The International Wheelchair and Amputee Sports Federation (IWAS) is an International Sports Organization that governs sports for wheelchair and amputee.

IWAS has been in existence as a multi-sport governing body from the year 1952 and since then has been following the vision of its creator and leader Sir Ludwing Guttman. This organization has established several sports events known as the Paralympic Games.

 

Over the past 55 years, IWAS has never lost sight of its goals and has been a generous contributor in the field of sports. it has been a motivational factor to athletes all round the world and have been providing leadership skills and technical expertise to its volunteers. This organization has been growing in stature and has been providing hope and confidence to the physically disabled since years, IWAS has been a vibrant and constantly growing federation that has put up forward enormous opportunities for determined physically challenged personalities. Encouraging these people to participate in sports and showing their potential to the whole has been the main objective of IWAS then and now.

 

VISION: IWAS has always stayed in focus and has been able to achieve all set targets by following its vision. This Federation has constantly been working towards allowing the Physically challenged individual to attain their dream in the field of sports. Complete support and inspiration is provided to all the participants from the nation to exhibit their talent.

 

MISSION: IWAS mission has been to create and encourage the development of youth, men and women with physical disability. The main focus remain to build a drive in the athletes to be the best sports personality, motivating them to be part of multiple events organized by IWAS in and around the world.

  VALUES: the following remains integral to set the aims and objectives for IWAS.
  • Positive image and self determination of athletes and sports.
  • Support all athletes by not controlling and restricting
  • Transparency of decision and action.
  • Partnership and complementary activity
  • Motivating and respecting all athletes and participants.
  • Maintenance of all government and management infrastructures and thereby providing improved service and programmes
  • Nature conductive environment for professional growth.
  • Development of games and competitions.
 

IWAS World Games is an International Sporting Event which takes place every 2 years. IWAS World Junior Games also takes place every 2 Years and it is a fundamental opportunity for young athletes with aspiration for an international career in their chosen sports, IWAS has also developed strong strong working relationships to ensure that is member, gain opportunities to showcase their talents in IWAS Games.
