Best Wishes to Indian 5A Football Team for Mexico World Grand Prix

Indian Blind Football Team headed to Puebla, Mexico for the World Grand Prix.

The Indian Blind Football Team departed from Kochi for the World Grand Prix, which will take place in Mexico from 2nd to 7th August 2022. The journey of the Indian team comes after a month-long training camp led by Head Coach Sunil J Mathew at the Kadavanthara Gamma Football Ground with the help of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Paralympic Committee of India.

India is competing in group B, which also includes Mexico and world champion Brazil. Indian will play the first match against hosts Mexico on 2nd August. The other participating teams in the competition are Argentina, Costa Rica, and Japan .The tournament has one qualification spot for the World Championships 2023 at Birmingham

“Being able to participate in the tournament where the top ranked teams in the world ranking will give the Indian blind football team a better opportunity and more experience” Sunil j Mathew , Head Coach, National blind football team commented

Eight men’s teams will contest the event in two groups of four, the top two teams will advance to the semi-finals and the bottom two will play in the classification matches. Matches will take place from the 2nd to the 7th of August with teams arriving at the end of July for classification sessions beginning on the 30th. As an IBSA event, there will be random doping tests for all matches.
