More golden glory for Para shooters  in Munich 2022 World Cup

The Indian para shooters continued their rich vein of form clinching six medals including four gold medals so far at the ongoing Munich 2022 World Shooting Para Sport World Cup.

Among the gold medal winners were pistol shooters Paralympic medallists Manish Narwal and Singhraj, Rahul Jakhar, Rubina Francis and Nihal Singh.

In the P6 - Mixed Team 10m Air Pistol SH1, Narwal and Francis came out with a brilliant show to shoot 552 with seven hits in the qualification round and book the gold medal match against Iraq (550).

In the final, Team India maintained the momentum to shoot four 10x each and win 16-2 over Iraq’s Ali Mousa and Sarah Al-Shabbani.

On Sunday, Narwal however faltered in the men’s P1 – Men’s 10m Air Pistol SH1 finishing in fourth place. But the Indian team of Narwal, Singhraj and Nihal Singh (1685-35x) picked up the Team gold ahead of the Republic of Korea and the Czech Republic.   

In P2 - Women's 10m Air Pistol SH1, Nisha Kanwar settled for a bronze medal with 206.3 finishing behind Hungary’s David Krisztina (230.0) and France’s Edon Gaelle (229.9) who were separated by just 0.1 points.

Earlier, India has started off their campaign at the Munich 2022 World Cup on a brilliant note, thanks to Rahul Jakhar’s gold medal show in P3- Mixed 25m Pistol SH1 event.

Jakhar shot brilliantly with a series of 95, 91, 96, 97, 96, and 96 for a total of 571 with 10x to top the qualifying round. The final saw a close contest between compatriots Jhakar and Singhraj, with the Indians staying neck and neck in the Elimination round with 18-all.

Jakhar however went ahead with 4 hits in the third last series. The final series saw both the shooters getting 2 hits and Jakhar winning it by 27-24 margin. Ukraine’s Oleksii Denysiuk claimed the bronze with 20.

Jakhar and Singhraj also combined with Nihal to take the Team gold with a total of 1695-36x ahead of Republic of Korea and the Czech Republic.
