PCI has appointed Dr. Arun Basil Mathew - NADA Liaison Officer.

To regularly monitor the anti-doping and fairplay programs and also in response to the action requested by NADA, PCI has appointed Dr. Arun Basil Mathew as a dedicated NADA Liaison Officer.

Dr. Arun Basil Mathew is a Veteran Sportsman (National level Archer, Weightlifter and Karate Instructor and an enthusiastic sports administrator and Trainer.) Acknowledging his  experiences and contribution in the field of Medicine and Sports, he had been offered the position of Chief Expert Specialist Doctor and Covid Liason Officer in the recent Tokyo 2020 Olympics and further appointed as the Chief Medical officer and Covid Lead Supervisor,at Commonwealth Games, Birmingham, 2022.

Dr. Arun had graduated (MBBS) from Government Medical College Thiruvananthapuram, and obtained MRCS from The Royal college of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and MS in General Surgery with profound interest in dealing with Trauma Surgeries, Emergency medicine, Critical care, and Sports Medicine related areas .Further he had secured first rank in Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery Superspeciality (Mch CTVS) entrance exam from the Prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS) , New Delhi following which he had worked as a Senior Resident Doctor in AIIMS NewDelhi for over three years. Meanwhile he had obtained DNB in General Surgery and Fellowships in Intensive care Medicine, Family Medicine, Sports Medicine & Rehabilitation ,Sports Psychology,Sports Nutrition , Hospital Management as well as MNAMS from National Academy of Medical Sciences. He is  uptodate with the latest BLS, ACLS, PALS & ATLS protocols and a certified Advanced provider. He is also a Certified Global Instructor of ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) by the American College of Surgeons as well as  WADA(World Anti Doping Agency) Medical Professional for Major Games.

He had worked as a  Consultant-Clinical Assistant professor in the Department of Cardiovascular and Thoracic Sciences at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Kerala, India, and then as Consultant Cardiovascular Thoracic, Trauma and Emergency Surgery at Medanta Medicity, Ranchi, India.

 He is now appointed as the PCI Chief Medical Officer and NADA Liasion Officer with effect from 16/12/2022.
