New Delhi : PCI's Secretary General Sh. Gursharan Singh Signed a cooperation agreement with Mr. Kedir Awol Omar, Head of ICRC Regional Delegation which establishes an action plan between ICRC and PCI focused on areas of convergence to develop and promote sports amongst para-athletes as well as other persons with physical disabilities in India for a period of one year.

  • To promote the Paralympic sports amongst the disability sector as described by the  International  Paralympic  Committee  (IPC)  and  Rights  of  Persons  with Disabilities Act of India (RPWDA) 2016.
  • To develop and create the knowledge pool, skills and understanding of classifiers, coaches, referees and other technical officials in Paralympic Sports as well to support the National Paralympic Academies and Para Sport Training Centres for development of relevant courses for para-sports
  • To seek the continuous national promotion and media coverage of the Paralympic Movement through production of prom otional videos, short documentaries and dissemination materials.
  •  To strengthen social inclusion of the athletes with disabilities through vocational training and employment programs.

Responsibilities of ICRC

  • The ICRC will collaborate with PCI to  provide them with technical support in developing and promoting disability sport s in India, leveraging on their expertise in strengthening para-athletics, para-swimming, para-shooting, para-powerlifting and para-badminton.
  • The ICRC will facilitate the participation of persons with disabilities in disability sports through its supported centres. 
  • The ICRC will facilitate in connecting any other interested donor / sponsorship to PCI for the promotion and development of Paralympic Sports in India.
  • The ICRC will facilitate the participation of players in various vocational training and  employment  programs  throug h collaboration  with  vocational  training partners.
  • The ICRC in coordination with PCI produces promotional videos, short documentaries and dissemination materials to promote parasports and participation of persons with disabilities in various sports at the national level.
  • The ICRC shall cover the cost of activities mentioned in the Plan of Action based on mutual agreement.

Responsibilities of PCI

  • PCI will collaborate with ICRC and help Individual Sports Federations, State Para Association, State Para Associations and other Para Sports Bodies in the training of 
    sport technical officials and sport classifiers in India.
  • PCI along with ICRC shall collaborate with schools, colleges and universities, public sector corporations, independent sport Boards, establishments, etc. to propagate 
    the fundamental Paralympic Values at National Level.
  • PCI shall assist ICRC in awareness and promotion of sports and recruitment and selection of athletes with disabilities in ICRC partner rehabilitation centers.
  • PCI shall support  and  encourage  educational,  cultural, research  and scientific activities that contribute to the development and promotion of the Paralympic Movement.as per the guidelines of the IPC Handbook read together with the National Sports Development Code (NSDC).
  • PCI conducts National Games/ Championships/ Meets/ Workshops/ Conferences/ Exhibitions pertaining to Paralympic and IPC Sports and ICRC shall support on mutually agreed areas/activities.
  • PCI ensures that all sport related initiative implemented in collaboration with ICRC will be branded with the ICRC official logo. In all media and social communication, the collaboration will be fram ed as partnership.
  • PCI will honor the guidelines of ICRC together with the PCI Constitution and Byelaws during the process of raising funds for all the sources of sponsorship / donors forwarded by ICRC to PCI. It is to be noted that the fund raised by the PCI is exclusively requested and received by PCI. The ICRC is not part of any such request and correspondence.
  • PCI will support ICRC by facilitating the required communications pertaining our collaboration with the respective authority including Sport Authority of India (SAI)
