Shooter Avani Lekhara scripts history, becomes first Indian woman to win two Paralympics medals

Avani Lekhara won a bronze medal in women’s 50m rifle 3-position SH1 to add to her earlier gold in women’s 10m air rifle shooting SH1 class at Tokyo.

The 19-year-old rifle shooter, who won gold in women’s 10m air rifle shooting SH1 class at Tokyo on Monday, added the women’s 50m rifle 3-position SH1 bronze medal to her tally. She also became the first Indian woman to win two medals at the Para Games in the same edition.

After qualifying for the final in the second position with 1176 points, Avani Lekhara continued her momentum in the medal round as well.
